Pakistan PM Sharif to address Gaza crisis and Islamic unity at WEF Summit

Prime Minister Sharif of Pakistan is set to participate in the World Economic Forum’s special meeting in Riyadh, focusing on ‘Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development’. Scheduled for April 28 and 29, the summit will convene top diplomats from Arab and European nations. Sharif will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

The agenda of the forum encompasses economic discussions and meetings addressing the situation in Gaza. Notably, a session dedicated to Gaza on Monday will include prominent figures such as Palestinian PM Mohammad Mustafa, Egyptian PM Mostafa Madbouly, and UN aid coordinator for Gaza, Sigrid Kaag.

The invitation to attend the summit was extended by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Klaus Schwab, the Founder and Executive Chairman of WEF. Additionally, Sharif will participate in the 15th session of the Islamic Summit Conference in Gambia from May 4 to 5. Foreign Minister Dar will partake in the preparatory meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers on May 2-3.

During the forum, Sharif is expected to address Pakistan’s priorities in global health architecture, inclusive growth, and regional collaboration. He will advocate for the rights of Palestinians and highlight the importance of solidarity, while also discussing issues such as Islamophobia and terrorism. Bilateral meetings with leaders from the Muslim world are also on the agenda.
