A court in Pakistan has granted the request of the wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan to be transferred to jail from house arrest. The decision was made following complaints by Bushra Bibi of being served contaminated food while under house arrest.

Bushra Bibi was detained at Khan’s hilltop mansion in Islamabad after a January conviction. She challenged the house arrest, as stated by her lawyer Naeem Panjutha on the social media platform X.

Bibi filed an appeal in the Islamabad High Court, seeking to be shifted to jail.

The court ordered authorities to move her to Adyala jail in the garrison city of Rawalpindi, where Khan, 70, a former cricket superstar, is serving his 14-year sentence, his party said in a statement.

The party mentioned that Bibi had complained of being served contaminated food by the authorities at the house, which had been declared a sub-jail. However, the authorities have denied the accusation.
