Pakistan saw a notable surge in militant attacks in April, primarily concentrated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), with 73% of incidents occurring in its mainland districts. The Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies documented 77 militant attacks during the month, resulting in 70 deaths and 67 injuries nationwide. Despite the increase in attacks compared to March, fatalities saw a slight decline, thanks to the efforts of security forces in thwarting potential attacks and apprehending suspects.

The surge in militant attacks was highlighted in the monthly security assessment published by the Islamabad-based think tank, Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS). The report noted 77 attacks in April, resulting in 70 fatalities, including civilians and members of security forces.

Mainland KP, particularly districts like D.I. Khan, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, and Tank, bore the brunt of these attacks, while tribal districts also faced significant incidents. The report indicated that 73% of the total attacks in April took place in KP, indicating the region’s vulnerability to militant activities. Balochistan, Punjab, and Sindh also experienced a surge in militant incidents during the month.
