The US Embassy in Colombo has donated lifesaving safety equipment to Sri Lanka Life Saving, an organization that provides public safety services for the citizens and visitors of Sri Lanka through drowning prevention, rescue, awareness and education.

Equipment donated by the US Embassy with the participation of the U.S. Ambassador to Colombo Alaina B. Teplitz at the Bentota beach included rescue rings, throw bags, helmets, and outboard motor engines used for inflatable rescue boats.

“Helping Sri Lankans help themselves is why, today, we provided rescue gear that will save local lives during flooding & other natural disasters. I’m proud we could work with non-governmental group Sri Lanka Life Saving to increase Sri Lankan community safety, a key component of our longstanding development support,” Ambassador Teplitz said.

“We are committed to conduct our activities more effectively and efficiently with this equipment,” Asanka Nanayakkara, the president of Sri Lanka Life Saving said.
