Sri Lankan health authorities have taken preemptive measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the island through infected visitors and installed elevated body temperature screening machines at country’s airports and seaports.

According to media reports, Chinese authorities have urged people to stop travelling in and out of Wuhan, the city at the centre of the new virus outbreak that has killed over 17 people.

Earlier this week, China also confirmed that human-to-human transmission of the virus had taken place. Sri Lanka is yet to report any cases but all possible precautionary measures are currently in place, according to health authorities.
