Sri Lanka COVID-19 cases rise to 2042 with 5 infected people arrived in the country

Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 cases have risen to 2,042 today with five persons arrived in the country recently testing positive for the coronavirus on Monday (29), the Health Ministry said.

Three of the five patients tested positive have arrived from Pakistan and they were being quarantined at the Diyatalawa Quarantine Center, the Government Information Department said. The other two had arrived from Bangladesh.

According to the Health Promotion Bureau report, as of 6 am Tuesday, 353 patients are receiving treatment at hospitals. Another 40 Individuals are currently under investigations in hospitals.

Eleven patients have died while 1,678 patients including the Chinese tourist, who was the first COVID-19 case detected in the country in January, have fully recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

A total of 105,105 PCR tests have been conducted to detect Covid-19 infected persons from February 18 to June 29, according to the Health Promotion Bureau report.
