Sri Lanka COVID-19 cases rise to 1889 with 5 new cases

Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 cases total increased to 1,889 Sunday with 5 more persons testing positive for the coronavirus, the Health Ministry reported.

According to the Epidemiology Unit report updated at 4:30 pm Sunday, 591 confirmed patients are receiving treatment at hospitals while 35individuals are currently under investigations in hospitals.

Eleven patients have died while 1,287 patients including the Chinese tourist, who was the first COVID-19 case detected in the country in January, have fully recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

A total of 85,967 PCR tests have been conducted to detect Covid-19 infected persons from February 18 to June 13, according to the Health Promotion Bureau report.
