Sri Lanka COVID-19 cases at 2815, Kandakadu Corona cluster up to 600

The National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) states that 600 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus at the Kandakadu Drug Prevention and Rehabilitation Center.

Another corona patient was identified this morning (01) and is said to be a close associate of the staff at the Kandakadu Center. He has been identified as a relative of a previously reported patient from Lankapura area.

Dr. Sudath Samaraweera, Chief Specialist of the Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health stated that steps have been taken to identify all his associates and direct them to quarantine.

According to the Epidemiology Unit report, as of 10 pm Saturday, COVID-19 cases stood at 2,815 while 365 patients are receiving treatment at hospitals. Another 48 Individuals are currently under investigations in hospitals.

Eleven patients have died while 2,439 patients including the Chinese tourist, who was the first COVID-19 case detected in the country in January this year, have fully recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

A total of 160,226 PCR tests have been conducted to detect Covid-19 infected persons from February 18 to July 31, according to the report.
