Shahid Kapoor is presently basking in the earth-shattering success of his latest release, Kabir Singh (2019). Also starring Kiara Advani, the film has been doing phenomenal business ever since its release, exceeding all expectations. As we all know that Kabir Singh is an official Bollywood remake of Telugu film, Arjun Reddy (2017) which has gained cult status within two years of its release. Just like the original, the remake has also put up a great show at the box-office, emerging as the biggest solo hit of actor Shahid Kapoor.
Post the thunderous success of Kabir Singh, Shahid Kapoor has been reportedly offered a Hindi remake of yet another Telugu blockbuster. Yes, you heard that absolutely right! According to reports, Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions is planning to remake hit Telugu film, Jersey, in Hindi. Starring Nani and debutante Shraddha Srinath in lead roles, the Gowtham Tinnanuri directorial released on April 19, 2019, and turned out to be an instant hit at the box-office. Dharma Productions has recently acquired the remake rights of the film and is keen to sign Shahid Kapoor for the same role which Nani played in the original.
A source close to the development reveals to an entertainment portal that the team at Dharma Productions feels that Shahid fits the bill perfectly for the role of a cricketer in the remake. “After his intense performance in Kabir Singh, it would be really interesting to see him in another role, obviously in a completely different avatar and role. Dharma Productions will be making this remake of Jersey, which is a unique cricket film that wooed the Telugu masses, and they felt that Shahid fit the role quite well.”
Besides the Jersey remake, we also hear that Shahid Kapoor has been offered director Ram Madhvani’s next directorial venture. “Yes, Ram sir has an interesting script in hand and he is keen on Shahid doing the role. The actor has been approached but he is yet to respond,” reveals another source.
