Bollywood superstar Sanjay Dutt, who has delivered many memorable characters over the years, is now setting his foot in the Marathi film industry. The actor has announced his foray into Marathi cinema as a producer. He has bankrolled a father-son relationship drama called Baba. Dutt has dedicated his maiden Marathi film to his late father Sunil Dutt.
On Tuesday, the 59-year-old actor unveiled the first motion poster of the film on social media. In the video, a small child can be seen riding a bicycle along with his father. Sharing the motion poster on Instagram, Sanjay Dutt wrote, “Dedicating our first Marathi film “BABA” to the person who remained steadfast in my life through everything! Love you Dad.”
Aside from unveiling the motion poster, Sanjay Dutt also announced the official release date of the film. Directed by Raj Gupta, Baba is set to enter theatres on 2nd August. Talented actors Deepak Dobriyal, Nandita Dhuri, Abhijeet Khandkekar, Spruha Joshi and Chittaranjan Giri play important roles in the movie.
Coming to Sanjay Dutt’s Bollywood ventures, the talented actor has almost half a dozen films in his hand at the moment. He is producing and starring in Prassthanam, which is an official remake of Telugu film Prasthanam (2010). He is presently shooting for Ashutosh Gowariker’s war period drama Panipat, which also stars Arjun Kapoor and Kriti Sanon in lead roles. His much-delayed film Torbaaz is also expected to hit the screens this year.
Besides all the aforementioned films, Sanjay Dutt also plays important characters in upcoming Bollywood biggies like Sadak 2, Bhuj: The Pride Of India and Shamshera. All three films are scheduled to release in 2020.
