Husband and wife nabbed with Rs. 10 million worth heroin

The police have arrested a couple who were packaging Rs. 10 million worth heroin in a house on Batuwita road, Gonapola Mount Lavinia police SSP Rohan Premaratne said.

The couple was in the possession of 1kg 28g of heroin, when they were arrested. The officers of Dehiwala Police made the arrest at around 2.00 pm on Thursday (25).

Along with the stock of heroin, nearly Rs. 300,000 in cash, sharp weapons and equipment used to package the drugs were also taken into police custody.

The couple, aged 23 and 35 years, was identified as residents of Gonapola.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the duo had been involved in a heroin racket a year ago and had been selling over 10 kilos of heroin in Dehiwala Mount Lavinia, Panadura, Moratuwa, Bandaragama, Piliyandala, Kottawa, Boralesgamuwa and Maharagama area through various drug dealers, the police said.
