Deepika Padukone was last seen on celluloid in acclaimed filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmaavat (2018). Also starring Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles, the period drama hit the marquee in January 2018. It has been close to two years since the actress has not graced the silver screen. Though she has a couple of projects in her hand, none of them are releasing in 2019.

The latest news about Deepika Padukone is that she might reunite with filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar for a film. The duo last worked together on Lafangey Parindey (2010) almost a decade ago. Buzz has it that the two might collaborate together for the Hindi remake of popular Bengali film Noti Binodini (1994), which was based on the life of noted Bengali theatre actress, Binodini Dasi.

“Deepika Padukone has been finalised for the prestigious Pradeep Sarkar project. She will play the central character of Binodini Dasi in the movie. It is believed that Vidya Balan was also in contention for the role with whom Pradeep Sarkar has earlier worked in Parineeta (2005),” a source in the know tells an entertainment portal.

Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone is looking forward to the release of her next film Chhapaak. Directed by filmmaker Meghna Gulzar, the movie is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. Apart from playing the female lead, Deepika has also co-produced the much-awaited film.

She also plays an important role in husband Ranveer Singh’s upcoming film 83. Speculations are rife in Bollywood that Deepika Padukone has also given her nod to star in Farah Khan’s remake of cult Hindi film Satte Pe Satta (1983). Reportedly, Hrithik Roshan is playing the male lead in the remake. If the news is indeed true, Hrithik and Deepika will work together for the first time ever.
