COVID-19 cases in Sri Lanka spikes to 1503 with 34 new cases

A total of 34 new cases were reported on Thursday and 32 among them are returnees from overseas and 02 of them are Sri Lanka Navy personnel.

Among the 32 returnees, 15 are those who were repatriated from Kuwait and were undergoing quarantine at a facility in Trincomalee.

The Government Information Department said the other 17 are those who returned from Dubai and were undergoing quarantine at the Gira’gama Quarantine Facility.

The statement noted 1838 PCR tests were carried out on Wednesday.

The total number of active COVID-19 cases in Sri Lanka is at 748 with 68 individuals currently under investigation.

745 COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from the hospital.
