China’s civil aviation regulator has announced that SriLankan Airlines’ Colombo-Shanghai flight and two other airlines would be suspended after several passengers tested positive for COVID-19 on recent flights, Xinhua reported.
The Civil Aviation Administration of China has announced that it would suspend the SriLankan Airlines’ flight from August 17 for four weeks since 23 passengers on Sri Lanka’s UL866 flight to China on August 7 tested positive for COVID-19 when PCR tests were conducted.
The Chinese Embassy in Colombo said in a statement that the flight was from Dubai to Shanghai, and all passengers on the flight departed from Dubai. The plane only made a short stop at Bandaranaike International Airport in Sri Lanka. It did not carry passengers from Sri Lanka, and the passengers on board did not enter Sri Lanka.
The Civil Aviation Administration of China also has decided to suspend Etihad Airways’ Abu Dhabi-Shanghai flight, a China Eastern Airlines’ Manila-Shanghai flight.
The suspension of Etihad Airways and China Eastern Airlines’ flights will last for one week, starting on Aug. 17, while flights of SriLankan Airlines will be suspended for four weeks.
