Bharat movie review: This Salman Khan starrer is a decent-entertaining watch

By: LekshmiSajeev

Ali Abbas Zafar has directed some amazing films like Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai. Both the movies were high-on entertainment plus also had good content. Now Ali and Salman Khan have collaborated for the third time for the film Bharat. The movie is inspired by Korean film Ode To My father and thankfully after a long time, there’s a film that is actually inspired and not a frame to frame copy of the original movie. But this doesn’t mean that Bharat is a great film…

The movie is about a man named Bharat (Salman Khan) who gets separated from his father (Jackie Shroff) and his sister during partition. His father tells him to take the care of the family and promises him that one day he will be back. Then starts the journey of a country and a man, but more than the journey of the country, the movie showcases the journey of the man, Bharat. We are shown different stages of Bharat’s life, the different work that he did throughout his life and a lot more…

Ali Abbas Zafar has come up with a decent film, but the movie has its flaws. The runtime of the film could have easily been cut short by 15-20 minutes. The patriotism in the film looks forced and the National Anthem in between the movie was not at all required. A few days ago, Salman Khan at an event said that this time they have concentrated more on entertainment and that could be easily seen. But well, Ali successful makes us cry in a couple of scenes, especially the one featuring Salman and Tabu.

Talking about performances, Salman Khan is amazing as Bharat and impresses us in every scene. Sunil Grover plays Salman’s friend in the film and he shines throughout. Thankfully, he is not just here to do comedy but also has emotional scenes as well. Sonali Kulkarni and Jackie Shroff are perfect in their parts. Disha Patani and Nora Fatehi are great dancers and they show off their amazing moves, but this movie doesn’t give them any scope to show their acting chops. Tabu proves that she doesn’t need a full-fledged role to leave a mark.

Now let’s talk about Katrina Kaif. The actress is good in her part we are not saying she hasn’t acted well, but unfortunately, doesn’t have a single scene where she shines out. This is clearly the weakest female lead character in an Ali Abbas Zafar film. After watching Katrina giving such a strong performance in Zero last year and her brilliant performance in Tiger Zinda Hai, Bharat turns out to be a disappointment. Now we know why Priyanka Chopra decided to choose marriage over Bharat.

Overall, Salman Khan fans will love Bharat as it offers what they want, entertainment, entertainment, and entertainment…
