Another group of Stranded Sri Lankans arrive in the island

A group of 373 Sri Lankans who were unable to return to Sri Lanka due to the COVID-19 travel restrictions have arrived in the country early this morning onboard three different plights.

Among the passengers arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) at Katunayake were 332 Sri Lankans who went to work in the United Arab Emirates and 41 Sri Lankans who were in England for employment and higher education.

Sri Lankans from the United Arab Emirates arrived on board an Emirates flight at 2:15 this morning while the passengers from the UK arrived at 4:15 am.

In addition, 13 foreign sailors arrived in the island from Doha, Qatar at 1:15am for employment on a merchant ship anchored in the Port of Colombo.

Upon arrival at the airport, all the passengers were subjected to PCR tests and directed to quarantine.
