The government has taken steps to repatriate 236 Sri Lankan civil ship crew members stranded in foreign ports when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) said.

Accordingly, SriLankan Airlines Flight UL 1206 is scheduled to arrive in Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport today from Hamburg, Germany with the 236 stranded ship crew members.

They all will be sent to the tri services-managed Quarantine Centers after PCR tests, Military Spokesman, Brigadier Chandana Wickremasinghe on behalf of the NOCPCO said.

By Friday (June 05), a total of 11,727 quarantined individuals from tri service-managed QCs have left for their homes, while 5,222 persons are still in quarantine in 45 island-wide QCs, run by tri services.
