3 stars.

If you have kids, then Giraffe is the place to go to keep them entertained.

Despite the small setting it has a buzzing family atmosphere, which is ideal for kids’ birthday parties. This can be irritating for adults though as we had the displeasure of kids screaming and blowing water through their straws in our direction.

The menu will be popular with young ones with a range of favourites including wedges, tortillas, nachos, salads, and soups as starters, which are all under £5. We went for something more adventurous with the juicy Japanese tiger prawns, which went well with the sweet chilli and lime sauce.

My partner went for the chicken potstickers, fried chicken dumplings in a soy-chilli dip. The scrumptious bite-sized pieces were an ideal starter but left you wanting more. So we also chose the tikka sticks, which was chicken breast marinated in yoghurt and Indian spices. This was bursting with flavour but with only four pieces, was a little disappointing. Thankfully, the main courses arrived in more generous portions. I went for the Thai duck stir fry, a piping hot and impressive dish. The duck was complemented well by the egg noodles, basil, mushrooms, shallots, and sprouts. The use of chillis and peppers ensures it had added zing as well. My partner went for the parmesan chicken kiev, which was crumbled chicken breast with garlic butter and mash potato. This is one for the health conscious and despite the large portion does not leave you feeling bloated.

We had just enough space for dessert. I went for the Rocky Road ice-cream sundae which was supposed to be for two people. But the combination of chocolate pieces, vanilla ice-cream, marshmallows, and brownie pieces was too tantalising and can be finished by one person. My partner went for the sweet apple crumble with vanilla ice-ream and apple and passion fruit, to cap off an enjoyable meal.

On Monday July 12, any customer who turns up at a participating branch of Giraffe between 8am and 9am wearing their dressing gown will receive a free Brekkie Bap, to eat in.   Choose any 2 fillings for your soft baked bap from free range egg - fried or scrambled, bacon, Cumberland sausage, veggie sausage, grilled tomato or mushroom, served with crispy potato wedges.

* From July 12 until October 29, Breakfast Club cardholders will be able to claim the 25 per cent discount off any item on the delicious Breakfast or Brunch menus before 11am. These include Eggs Benedict, the tasty and healthy Ultimate
Superfoods Rude Health Muesli, their famous stacked blueberry and banana pancakes, or spicy Mexican Style
Huevos Rancheros.
