The future of British Asian music was showcased at the Chapel Bar in north London.

Acts under the Rishi Rich Productions stable performed on the night to preview what the famous producer has in store for fans.

The night began with a performance from Tasha Tah, a pop singer in the style of Alesha Dixon and Cheryl Cole. Her first song was uptempo track Relight which will be her first single release. The second track was more uptempo but followed the same commercial formula. It is not obvious what Tasha offers with her style of music that is not already out there.

In contrast, Ramzi looks to be a certain star in the making. The crooner performed ‘Love Is Blind’ that fuses English, Arabic and Hindi lyrics and was one of the hit songs of last year on Asian radio. His live performance showcased the depth of his booming voice. Ramzi then teamed up with singer Mumzy  for a catchy track called Fall in Love which blended R&B and reggae beats.

Mumzy then performed a succession of hit songs that were perfect for a Friday club night. He delivered an energetic rendition of Mohabbat Hai, which uses a sample from a classic Bollywood love song. He bettered that with the bhangra remix of One More Dance which showcased his rapping skills. The British Bangladeshi ended with his new single Fly With Me. In truth the uptempo track is not as catchy as his previous hits. But it is clear that Mumzy and co will be continuing to build their profile in a bid to emulate former label mate Jay Sean.
